Coastal hazards

Many Northland communities are located on the coast, with many exposed to coastal flooding and erosion.

Ongoing sea level rise and more severe coastal storms due to climate change are likely to affect our coastal communities more severely in years to come.

For our communities to adapt and thrive, we need a good understanding of where coastal erosion and coastal flooding is likely to happen, and the potential impacts on coastal communities.

Understanding where, and how, communities could be affected is important.
