Representation review 2021

From 10 August, you can make a submission on our initial proposal for how the people of Northland are represented at the council table.

About our representation review

Northland Regional Council is doing a representation review, so we can get new arrangements in place for the next local government elections in 2022.

We need to decide how many councillors we’ll have, what area they’ll represent and how our new Māori constituencies will work.

Council is scheduled to adopt its initial proposal in late July, which will outline the arrangements we think could work best to provide fair, effective representation across the region – check back here from early August to read the proposal.

You will be able to make a submission from 10 August to 10 September.
