Local iwi and NRC have teamed-up with the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) and Scion to find out more about microplastic contamination in Northland. This report characterises and quantifies microplastic distribution in sand sediments from the Northland region across nine open coastal sites, one dune lake and one estuary site.
