CityLink to spread annual pre-Xmas cheer again on Dec 21

Users of Whangarei’s CityLink public transport network are to be treated to some pre-Christmas treats – including free bus rides – as part of a day-long festive season promotion on Friday, 21 December.

The Northland Regional Council has once again teamed up with CityLink operator Ritchies to make the pre-Christmas rush a little more cheerful for passengers on Friday, December 21 2018.

Regional councillor John Bain, who chairs the Northland Regional Transport Committee, says people will be able to ride CityLink buses for free from 6am to 7pm on 21 December.

“Council and bus company staff will also be dishing out various small treats from 11am until 1pm at the Rose Street bus terminus.”

Councillor Bain says a similar Christmas spirit promotion last year was well-received in Whangarei, where CityLink runs a fleet of 40-seater buses across eight routes in urban areas and carries more than 1200 people daily.

“We’re hoping that passengers will once again get into festive season mode and take advantage of the specials and giveaways.”

More information about the pre-Christmas promotion is available from the regional council’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/NorthlandRegionalCouncil or the CityLink website  www.citylinkwhangarei.co.nz

The website also includes service operating hours up to and over the holiday season.
