Since 2017 a 23.58 gross tonne sailing vessel with a draft of 1.82 m and Length of 14.96 m, was safely secured to this mooring. This mooring is licensed for up to a 15 metre vessel. It has a round concrete 4-tonne mooring weight.

Description
Mooring
Following the granting of Resource Consent approval. The mooring was constructed in 2017, by the NRC-approved mooring contractor, Harbour Marine Ltd., and installed in the designated Mooring Area in Te Wahapu Inlet, to Northland Regional Council design. Location and configuration of the mooring were approved by the Regional Harbourmaster for Northland.
Single block mooring configuration as follows: Bottom chain 6.2m x 39-40mm + 1m doubled back at the top end, 2nd chain 3.1m x 20-22mm + 2.4m x 24mm, top rope 5.7m x 35mm, buoy rope 7m x 20mm, 1 x 32mm swivel, 1 x 25mm WR below swivel, 1 x 25mm WR in 2nd chain, 1 x 25mm WR below 2nd chain, plus concrete 4-tonne mooring block.
The necessary shore-based facilities and services including car parking and dinghy storage are available on the unformed road reserve at Barracks Place off Te Wahapu Road.
