Activity description

APP.000932.01.04 - Renewal of the resource consents for the continued operation of the Kaitaia Wastewater Treatment Plant on Section 87 Block V Takahue SD that services the township of Kaitaia.

APP.030602.01.03 – Renewal of resource consents associated with the continued operation of a sludge storage facility on Section 1 on SO 447437, being Part Pukepoto No.6 Blk II Ahipara SD Blk V Takahue SD.

The following consents are required:

APP.000932.01.04

  1. The discharge of treated wastewater to the Awanui River.
  2. The discharge of contaminants (primarily odour) to air from the wastewater treatment plant.
  3. The discharge of treated wastewater to land via seepage from the wastewater treatment plant.

APP.030602.01.03

  1. Discharge contaminants to land by way of seepage from the base of the sludge storage facility.
  2. Discharge contaminants to air (primarily odour) from the sludge storage facility.

The application includes an assessment of environmental effects. The application may be viewed during office hours at the Northland Regional Council’s office at 192 Commerce Street, Kaitaia.

Make a submission

Any person may make a written or electronic submission on this application. The submission must be in the prescribed form (Form 13). Electronic copies of this form are available below and on request.

Please note that if a hearing is required, the applicant has requested that independent commissioners are appointed to the hearing panel, including at least one commissioner with an understanding of tikanga Maori and of the perspectives of local iwi or hapū. This means that you are not required to complete section 8 of the Northland Regional Council’s submission form regarding “Hearing by Commissioners who are not members of the council”.

If you wish to make a submission on the above application, you must do so by serving it on the Northland Regional Council on or before Thursday 28 March 2024. There are two ways in which you may serve your submission (Note: the date that you complete either of these actions is the date that you are deemed to have ‘served’ your submission and this must be done on or before Thursday 28 March 2024):
