COVID-19: Cruise ship arrivals

22 June 2020 - The New Zealand Government announced an extension to the current cruise ship ban which was due to expire on 30 June. No date to lift this ban has been announced.

Planning to hold an event on the water?

Events such as swimming races, waka ama races and raft races only require notification to the Harbourmaster’s Office along with a safety plan. This service, and safety advice or assistance with your safety plan is free of charge, but at least six week's notice of your event is required.

If your event conflicts with another one, we can assist with safety advice if necessary.

If you are organising an event on the water or in a harbour in Northland, where you need to reserve an area of the harbour or uplift a speed limit, you may require approval from the Regional Harbourmaster.

Register your event

Open and complete the online registration form here

We will assess your registration and let you know if you need to complete any further documents to apply for a reserved area or speed uplift. If this is required, we will send you the appropriate application form.

We'll also publish your events on our calendar below.
