Northland Regional Council is committed to strengthening and supporting Māori representation and voice in local government through a range of initiatives. This section of the website helps answer common pātai (questions) about how we’re working to ensure Māori are meaningfully represented in decision-making that affects whānau, hapū, iwi and communities across Te Taitokerau.

Tāngata whenua contact database

We're updating and expanding our database of tāngata whenua contacts in Te Taitokerau. Our database includes iwi, hapū, marae and other Māori entities in our region.  This will help us to inform tāngata whenua about kaupapa of interest or concern, and to carry out functions and services for you and the wider community.
