Mooring piracy
There are many designated mooring areas in Northland. All moorings are held by individual licence holders. The mooring licence is vessel specific and subject to compliance with the Northland Navigation Safety Bylaw. Under the Northland Navigation Safety Bylaw, it is an offence to secure any vessel to a mooring without the licence holders’ permission and can incur a $200 infringement fee.
Northland Regional Council provides a listing service for moorings available for rent or sale across the region. To view available moorings you can book prior to arriving, visit www.nrc.govt.nz/moorings
