Eftsure supplier verification

Northland Regional Council (NRC) uses Eftsure to verify business and bank details before making payments, helping protect against fraud and cybercrime. This process is secure, approved by NRC, and free for suppliers.

Watch this short video to learn how Eftsure keeps supplier payments safe.

Supplier verification with Eftsure

Northland Regional Council (NRC) has partnered with Eftsure to make sure payments go to the right people. This helps protect against invoice fraud and cybercrime.

From 19 January 2026 we’ll start using Eftsure to check that supplier details – like your business name and bank account – are correct before we make a payment. Many councils and organisations in NZ and Australia use Eftsure for this reason.

Eftsure is recognised for protecting supplier payments against fraud and error by validating NZBN, GST registration status and bank account details to ensure payments are made to the intended recipient.

If you supply goods or services to NRC (including KMR suppliers), you may get an email from Eftsure asking you to confirm your details. This is safe and approved by NRC.

We know some suppliers have been told never to share bank details. This process is different – it’s secure and helps protect you and us from fraud.

All suppliers and subcontractors must register with Eftsure and verify their details before doing business with us. The business information required for verification includes:

  • Bank details
  • Trading name
  • GST registration
  • Company contact information
  • You’ll get an email from Eftsure.
  • Click the secure link in the email.
  • Confirm your business and bank details.

Done – you’re verified.

Important:

NRC will never ask for passwords or unrelated personal information.

You do not need to pay anything.

It is your responsibility to ensure your details are up to date. Please notify us immediately if your details change, or if you notice any discrepancies.

To update your details, contact us at accounts@nrc.govt.nz or on 0800 002 004 and ask to be sent an 'Eftsure change request'.

You will then receive an email from NRC with a link to update your data in their portal, and then a confirmation email once your data has been verified.

Depending on the data to be updated, you may receive a phone call from an Eftsure team member to verify your details over the phone before you receive a confirmation email.

The email will show your details partly filled in and mention NRC.

If you’re unsure, call us on 0800 002 004 or email accounts@nrc.govt.nz
