He Whakaputanga me Te Tiriti o Waitangi – Our foundations 

Northland Regional Council (NRC) and Te Ruarangi acknowledge the relationship between He Whakaputanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with both documents key to understanding the role of tāngata whenua in Te Taitokerau. While distinct partners, NRC and tāngata whenua share common goals for the region’s environmental, social, cultural, and economic future.

In giving effect to their responsibilities, together NRC and Te Ruarangi work as active Te Tiriti partners, supporting meaningful relationships and ensuring tāngata whenua have a lasting role in future regional planning and decision-making.
