I am standing for re-election because I want everyone to enjoy clean water, a healthy environment, economic growth and enhanced flood protection, with real rigour placed on costs. I was a driver of Northlanders getting back 50% ownership of Northport at no cost to ratepayers, which will significantly subsidise rates and drive economic growth. We also limited rates to 3.54% rise, below inflation. This term I will step up climate action including flood protection projects in Whangarei and fight for rail and four lanes to Marsden Point. Last term I presided over $10M in government funding for environmental programmes. I am NRC's busiest Councillor (Chair Biosecurity & Biodiversity, Chair Whangarei Urban Rivers, member of Finance, Audit & Risk, Whangarei Public Transport committees). Northland is facing massive environmental and economic challenges and we must protect ratepayers from future financial risks. I have the skills and experience to meet these challenges.
