Te Rarawa, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Hine, Ngātiwai.

I’ve spent my career in environmental governance, hapū development, and international Indigenous advocacy — always guided by my commitment to people and place. As Deputy Chair, I’ve helped shape regional budgets with policy and stood alongside whānau protecting whenua, wai, and rangatahi aspirations.

I’m proud of what we’ve achieved: improving emergency response and flood resilience, strengthening biodiversity protections, and ensuring community voices influence decisions. I’ve championed environmental leadership that upholds mana whenua and prepares us for the realities of climate change.

If re-elected, I’ll: Defend biodiversity and freshwater; secure long-term flood protection and climate-ready infrastructure; Fight for rural access to water and regional connectivity; Expand youth leadership in council decisions; Embed hapū and iwi leadership in governance and economic development.

I’m here to hold the line — for our whenua, our communities, and a future built on strategy, integrity, and aroha.

Tui Shortland.
