Activity description

Renewal of the resource consents for the continued operation of the Kaikohe Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The following consents are required:

  • To discharge treated wastewater to an unnamed tributary of Wairoro Stream.
  • To discharge contaminants to ground via seepage from the base of an anaerobic pond, oxidation pond and a constructed wetland.
  • To discharge contaminants (primarily odour) to air from the Kaikohe wastewater treatment plant.

The application includes an assessment of environmental effects. The application documents may be viewed below and during office hours at the Northland Regional Council’s office at Whangarei and Waipapa.

Please note that if a hearing is required, the applicant has requested that independent commissioners are appointed to the hearing panel. This means that you are not required to complete Section 8 of the Northland Regional Council’s submission form regarding “Hearing by Commissioners who are not members of the council”.
