Marae preparedness plans enhance the existing resilience of marae.
The Northland Civil Defence Emergency Management Group has been working with marae for more than 10 years to help them develop their own marae preparedness plans.
The process involves working with marae to identify hazards that could affect them, the resources at hand to look after people, and the vulnerable people in the community. Links are then developed with the emergency agencies that would assist when required.
There is no cost involved for the marae.
This opportunity is open to individual marae, or small groups of marae which are in close proximity. Another option is for marae to work with their wider communities to develop more comprehensive community response plans.
