The Maritime Officer position is part of the Maritime Team that provides a wide variety of activities including navigational safety services, oil pollution response for Northland coastal waters, pilotage services, bylaw enforcement, moorings management, maintenance and on water skipper services to other council departments.
This role’s primary focus is education around recreational boating safety, coordinating boating safety initiatives, whilst also supporting the team in all other areas of work.
The position is based in Ōpua , in the centre of the Bay of Islands.
What you will bring
You will ideally have an ILM, SRL or similar maritime qualification and have knowledge and experience of working on the water and with boats.
You will have a high level of computer literacy, be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ideally have good knowledge of Northland coastal areas and maritime legislation.
