Northland has a large number of public boat ramps and launching facilities.

Bay of Islands

Opito Bay: Concrete to low water, good parking.

Ōpua: Due to the current marina development, there is limited space and parking at this ramp until approximately April 2016. We recommend using the Waitangi ramp in the meantime.

Rangitane: Concrete to low water, fair parking.

Russell: Concrete to low water, fair parking.

Tapeka Point: Concrete to low water, poor parking.

Waipapa: Concrete to low water, good parking.

Waitangi (above bridge): Concrete to low water, good parking.

Doubtless Bay

Mangonui (Mill Bay): Concrete to low water, reasonable parking.

Taipa (below bridge): Concrete to low water, good parking.

Taipa (above bridge): Sealed, gives access to beach, poor parking.

Tokerau Beach: Timber from road to mean high water, good parking.

Hokianga Harbour

Kohukohu: Concrete, adjacent to wharf, poor parking.

Koutu Point: Metal, fair parking.

Narrows: Concrete, used for ferry, good parking.

Rawene: Concrete, good parking.

Houhora Harbour

Pukenui (Gamefish Club): Concrete to low water, good parking.

Houhora Heads (Motor Camp): Concrete giving access to beach, reasonable parking.

Kai Iwi Lakes

Lake Taharoa, Kai Iwi Lakes.Lake Taharoa, Kai Iwi Lakes.

The Kai Iwi Lakes cover an area of 305ha and are suitable for a range of water-based recreational activities including boating, diving, fishing, sailboarding, swimming, yachting and water skiing.
