The aim of this project is to plant 15,000 metres plans along the Northern Wairoa catchment area to help improve the health of the Kaipara harbour.

This is a project that is a collaboration between Million Metres Streams Project, mana whenua, community organisations, non-governmental organisations and government agencies and is partially funded by the Ministry for the Environment’s Freshwater Improvement Fund the rest of the funding rasied by Million Metres Streams Projects.

Funds raised by Million Metres will go into coordinating the planting, monitoring the plants and the health of the harbour. The Integrated Kaipara Harbour Management Group, Te Arai Native Nursery and Reconnecting Northland will provide 100,000 native plants a year for the project.
