Land Management Advisor -Northern Wairoa Freshwater Improvement Project
Come and enjoy a healthy work/life balance in Northland and enjoy our fantastic surroundings. Only a couple hours’ drive from Auckland, we enjoy the best of both worlds. Northland boasts an abundance of white sandy beaches, and a wealth of fishing and diving spots; making Northland the perfect place to live, work and play. In addition to our plentiful marine environment, our region is a major agricultural centre producing fresh local ingredients for our thriving markets, cafes and restaurants.
However, it is the people that make a place and you will find the staff at regional council, down-to-earth, warm and welcoming – just like the people and communities we serve. We are extremely passionate about the work we do and take our responsibilities in protecting and investing in Northland seriously.
An opportunity has arisen within the Environmental Services Group for two experienced Land Management Advisors, based in Whangarei or Dargaville. The purpose of these roles is to manage and implement the Northern Wairoa freshwater improvement project which aims to improve water quality by working with communities and landowners in the Wairoa catchment.
The successful applicants will be experienced, self-motivated and will enjoy building close working relationships. This Ministry for the Environment (MfE) co-funded project has 8 local project partners of iwi, hapū, NGOs and primary industry partners forming the project steering committee. The successful applicants will provide strong operational emphasis on one-to-one advice to landowners via Farm Environment Plans and managing $1.6 M of environment funds over 5 years. This project aims to fulfill iwi/ hapū and community aspirations for improving water quality and enhancing biodiversity.
