New Regional Policy Statement
The Regional Policy Statement (RPS) provides a broad direction and framework for managing Northland's natural and physical resources. These include land, water, air, soil, minerals, plants, animals and all built structures.
The Regional Policy Statement was made operative on 9 May 2016, except for the provisions that relate to the use of genetic engineering and the release of genetically modified organisms to the environment, as they are still subject to legal challenge.
