Draft Plan Change 6 - Miscellaneous

What is this plan change about?

The Regional Coastal Plan for Northland (RCP) had its beginnings in the early 1990’s and was made operative (finalised) in 2004. Since then several relatively minor operational issues have come to light.

Firstly there are a number of rules that for various reasons need changing, and secondly there are a number of references to external documents that need updating. Consequently the Council is proposing to carry out a plan change to remedy these issues.

The proposed plan includes minor amendments to rules governing:

  • discharges to air (including abrasive blasting, agrichemicals);
  • vessel pump-out facilities;
  • sewage discharges from vessels;
  • excavation/use of heavy machinery in the coastal marine area;
  • pruning/removal of mangroves
