Draft Plan Change 5 - Coastal Occupation Charges

The Northland Regional Council (NRC) is proposing to make changes to the Regional Coastal Plan for Northland (RCP).

What is this plan change about?

The Resource Management Act 19911 (RMA) requires regional councils to decide whether or not to introduce a charging regime for occupation of public space in the coastal marine area (CMA)2. Either way, the council decision has to be stated in the Regional Coastal Plan. Further, whichever option council takes, it must be incorporated in the first change to the Regional Coastal Plan notified after 30 June 2007.

The Northland Regional Council has proposed that it will not introduce a coastal occupation charges regime at this time.
