Project updates

Current

We released a Draft New Regional Policy Statement for Northland for public feedback in October 2011. The period for feedback ran from 20 October to 9 December 2011.  In-between now and May 2012, we will review feedback, revise the draft, and develop a Proposed RPS for further consultation, from about June 2012.

You can find the draft new RPS documents on the Key Documents page.

February 2011 - October 2011

The Regional Policy & Development Committee worked with council staff to develop a draft new RPS.

Note: in December 2011 the name of the Regional Policy and Development Committee was changed to Regional Policy Committee.

You can find the Regional Policy & Development Committee agendas through our Key documents page.

Staff were supported by a Technical Steering Group, made up of resource management staff representatives from the district councils in Northland and runanga, to develop draft provisions for the committee’s consideration.

October 2010

We released the Regional Policy Statement for Northland – Discussion Document for public feedback.  The Discussion Document was not a draft of a new RPS; neither was it Council policy.  The Discussion Document identified potential regionally significant issues (based on the 5 and 10 year reviews of the current RPS, the latest science and monitoring information and key stakeholder meetings) and presented a range of options for dealing with them.  Consultation on the Discussion Document has now finished.
