The Regional Council is funding a one-third share in a $10M project to designate an Oakleigh to Marsden Point rail link corridor. The project currently only covers the first stage - to secure the route and provide certainty to landowners involved. It is proposed that rail network operator KiwiRail (formerly ONTRACK) and Central Government would also contribute one-third each.
