Civil defence has four main tasks – to reduce hazard risks, prepare for a civil defence hazard (readiness), and respond to and recover from an event. One of the key elements to being prepared for an event is providing information and assistance to ensure our communities are able to cope, if the need arises, for at least three days without any form of outside assistance.
It is the responsibility of everyone living in Northland to be prepared for a civil defence emergency. In this publication you’ll find some of the key information you need to help you be prepared. Keep the information in this publication handy – check out the website links or contact your local district council or the Northland Regional Council for more information about plans that may be in place in your area.
No matter what the event, there are things you can do that will help you and your family survive during a civil defence emergency. Are you prepared?
