15 nominated for Regional Council

Fourteen people are to fight for seven remaining seats on the Northland Regional Council at this year’s 13 October local authority elections.

The Council’s Electoral Officer Linda Stansfield says the official candidate nomination period closed at noon today (Fri 24 August), with 15 nominations received for eight available seats.

Four Regional Councillors are required for the Whangarei District Constituency, three from the Far North, and one for the Kaipara Constituency.

Ms Stansfield says as current Council Chairman Mark Farnsworth was the sole candidate for election as Kaipara representative he was today declared re-elected.
