Regional Council CEO Resigns
Long time Northland Regional Council Chief Executive Officer Warren MacLennan has announced his resignation to take up a new position at the Rodney District Council.
Warren MacLennan.
Mr MacLennan, 51, joined the Regional Council in November 1991 as Manager Planning and Policy, was appointed its Acting Chief Executive in 1995 and confirmed as its Chief Executive Officer in 1996.
He has been appointed Director District Strategy and Planning at the Rodney District Council based in Orewa and his last day as CEO for the Regional Council will be Friday 4 August.
Regional Council Chairman Mark Farnsworth says Mr MacLennan has provided the Council with an exceptional level of service during his time at the helm.
“As Chairman, I have greatly appreciated his open style and his high level of communication. He has established a professional governance management relationship with the Council and the way the Council operates today is a testament to his approach.”
“On a more personal level, I have greatly valued his counsel and advice.”
Mr Farnsworth says he will recall fondly the number of times Mr MacLennan had asked him: “Do you really want to say that?” and “Why don’t you think on it overnight?”
Mr MacLennan says he has thoroughly enjoyed his time with the Regional Council but feels it is now time to take up new opportunities.
“I do feel I have been privileged to work with many great Councillors and staff.”
Meanwhile, Mr Farnsworth says a process to find a replacement for Mr MacLennan will begin soon.
