Proposed regional events centre survey complete
The Northland Regional Council has received the results of a telephone survey on the proposed regional events centre at Okara Park in Whangarei.
The telephone survey of about 1000 residents spread across the three districts of the region show 56 percent are in favour of the proposal, with 33 percent against and 11 percent undecided.
The survey was conducted by the National Research Bureau in Auckland.
A total of 1015 residents aged 18 or over were asked if they were in favour of, or against the Northland Regional Council providing this ratepayer-funded contribution to upgrade Okara Park.
The results, split by district, show 60 percent of the respondents in Whangarei were in favour, 27 percent against and 13 percent undecided; 50 percent in the Far North were in favour, 41 percent against and 9 percent undecided; 60 percent in Kaipara were in favour, 29 percent against and 11 percent undecided.
The next step is that the Regional Council will consider the results at its meeting on April 20.
