Free Kaitaia seminar on pest and predator control
Far North people keen to learn pest and predator control tips from the experts will get the chance at a free seminar in Kaitaia in early July.
Mike Knight, a Kaitaia-based Pest Management Officer with the Northland Regional Council, says the Council hopes to attract up to 20 people to the three-hour 2 July seminar.
The seminar will include pest and predator control tips from 10 speakers from a number of organisations including the Regional Council, QEII Trust, Department of Conservation and landcare groups.
Topics covered will include night shooting, trapping versus poisons, different types of pests including goats, mustelids and wild cats, landcare group funding and Community Pest Control Areas.
There will also be demonstrations on the best ways to set a variety of traps including tunnel, Timms, Fenn and leg hold.
Mr Knight says the seminar will be held in the R.E.A.P Building in Puckey Ave, Kaitaia from 10.30am and will include a free barbeque lunch, giveaways and spot prizes.
