Real-time weather and wave data collected through Northport’s telemetry system includes wind speed and direction, water and air temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, tidal levels, rainfall, wave height, wave period and wave direction.

Maritime New Zealand provides a continuous distress and safety listening watch on VHF Channel 16.
Safety information and weather forecasts are broadcast for all areas, daily, at the following times on VHF Channel 67, 68 or 71:
- 0533 hrs
- 0733 hrs
- 1033 hrs
- 1333 hrs
- 1733 hrs
- 2133 hrs.
Other sources for the marine forecast include:
- local Coastguard stations on VHF;
- local newspapers;
- local radio stations; and
- private coastal radio stations.
Tide tables booklet
We produce a handy Tide Table booklet that provides an annual calendar of high/low tide times in Northland.
