Living in Northland

Surf clubs and water safety

Surf clubs and patrols

We have five surf clubs within our region.  There is also a trial surf lifesaving patrol at Baylys Beach during summer 2008-2009.

Surf club facilities cater primarily for the rescue and first aid work undertaken by volunteer lifeguards.

Baylys Beach

A joint Surf Life Saving Northern Region and Kaipara District Council initiative will see seven days a week lifeguard patrols at Baylys Beach from 27 December 2008 to 18 January 2009.  They will patrol between 11am and 6pm.

Safe swimming

Swimming water quality

Every summer, the Northland Regional Council test the water quality at a number of Northland's popular coastal and freshwater swimming spots to make sure it's safe for swimming.
