Te Kaupapa mo 2011:
The theme of the 2011 Scrapbook is ‘Earth to Earth'.
Our earth provides rich resources that support us in our everyday lives. In a natural cycle, what comes from the earth ultimately returns to the earth. The 2011 Scrapbook will explore the many ways that enviroschools are working in harmony with this natural cycle.
This year’s theme links to many of the Key Concepts in the Enviroschools Kit. For example: Whenua is the land that nourishes life (Living Landscapes), Creating Ecological Buildings that work for people and nature (Ecological Building), Waste is a Human Invention (Zero Waste).
Projects and actions that are good examples of working with Earth to Earth could include:
- Celebrating school food gardens... example of a cycle where food is grown in healthy soils, eaten locally and food scraps returned to as compost to nourish next year’s crop.
- Structures, Huts, Buildings that are designed to easily integrate back into nature.
- Green technology projects where the health of nature is considered in whole process from design, manufacture and end of life.
- Learning programmes that explore different cultural perspectives of natural cycles.
- Living Landscapes…creating and supporting habitats that allow natural cycles to flourish in your school or community.
- OR something else!

TIPS FOR YOUR PAGE….’Work Smarter Not Harder’!
Putting together your scrapbook page should be a fun activity as it’s a celebration of what your school has been doing over the year with Enviroschools! Be smart and create your page so it can be used for other purposes too. For example:
- Use it to apply for funding for a project
- Use it as part of your Enviroschools Award application
- Present it to your Board of Trustees to share your Enviro Group progress
- Use it in your school newsletter or newspaper to share your progress with your community
- Use it to attract other members into your Enviro Group for the next year!
Talk as an Envirogroup about how you will go about putting your page together. Dedicate an Envirogoup meeting to discussing what will go on your school’s page.
- Allocate roles to everyone
- Get support from your teacher and facilitator
Have fun putting your submission together and we look forward to viewing your page in the 2011 Scrapbook!
