Te Kaupapa mo 2009:
The theme of the 2009 Scrapbook is ‘Creating Sustainable Communities’.
Questions to think about when designing your scrapbook page:
- What aspects of school life involve your community?
- How have you worked with your community on an environmental project – either in your school or in the community?
- In what ways have your projects led to change in your community?
It could be working with students and parents to successfully implement litter-less lunches, or selling organic vegetables grown in school gardens, or organising a riparian planting programme in conjunction with tangata whenua and community environmental groups, or a huge range of other positive actions!
Format of your page:
Your school page should be an A4 size and portrait orientated. It can be submitted in one of the following three formats:
Preferred format: A scanned (or saved as) PDF document of the finished page/s (high resolution). Please also post us a printed hard copy.
OR
Finished hard copy (that is an A4 page the right size and orientation with photos, stories, captions etc. stuck onto them)
OR
A word document with text and tagged boxes showing where photos are placed, then the photos attached as separate jpg or tif files (least preferable format).
Please note:
Refer to the supplied specification sheet with helpful hints and tips for taking good photos and producing good quality print ready documents.

TIPS FOR YOUR PAGE….’Work Smarter Not Harder’!
Putting together your scrapbook page should be a fun activity as it’s a celebration of what your school has been doing over the year with Enviroschools! Be smart and create your page so it can be used for other purposes too. For example:
· Use it to apply for funding for a project
· Use it as part of your Enviroschools Award application
· Present it to your Board of Trustees to share your Enviro Group progress
· Use it in your school newsletter or newspaper to share your progress with your community
· Use it to attract other members into your Enviro Group for the next year!
Talk as an Enviro group about how you will go about putting your page together. Dedicate an Envirogoup meeting to discussing what will go on your school’s page
· Allocate roles to everyone
· Get support from your teacher and facilitator
Have fun putting your submission together and we look forward to viewing your page in the 2009 Scrapbook!
