For Schools

How do we apply for an award?

The Enviroschools Awards are presented at the end of each year to recognise the work schools have been doing towards creating a sustainable school.

The awards are milestones along a school’s journey, rather than an end in themselves.

They are an optional part of the Enviroschools Programme but many schools find that the awards' process provides a useful focal point for reflecting on, documenting and celebrating their journey.

Applications for 2008 Bronze and Silver Enviroschools Awards are now open.

If you are planning to apply for an award this year, please take note of the following dates:

Application Deadline

Your application needs to be at the Northland Regional Council office by Friday 31 October 2008.

Judging of Applications

This process is carried out by three judges and will take place over two days - Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 November 2008.

The Awards Ceremony

This year the ceremony will be held in the Council Chambers at the Northland Regional Council offices on Wednesday 3 December 2008.

Schools will be notified of the outcome of their application immediately after the judging has been completed.

Criteria for each award level and any other information you need can be found in the awards' manual in the Enviroschools kit.

All applications should be accompanied by an application form listing your details.
