For Schools

2008 Hui @ Okaihau College

Activities for the day were based around the theme of Zero Waste.

Students and teachers participated in workshops on Worm Farms, Managing waste reduction systems in school and making new objects from old. Participants planted hanging baskets, made garden paving stones and totem sculptures.

The key note speaker for the day was Remana Henwood from the Lake Omapere Restoration Trust who spoke about the history of the lake and restoration work that has been done so far. Nine schools attended: St Josephs, Dargaville Intermediate, Tautoro, Kaikohe West, Oromahoe, Riverview, Whangaruru, Kaeo and Okaihau.

Thanks to Lynne Couling Brown and Okaihau College for supporting this event, we all learned heaps and had a great time.
