Controlling plant and animal pests in the Northland region is a huge job. We need the support of landowners in our region to help with pest control. Successful pest control starts with awareness, motivation, the correct information being readily available, and the right people to help you.

We have a Biosecurity Team that educates, manages and assists in the control of plant and animal pests. Our activties are:

• Develop and monitor Regional Pest Management Strategies to guide our pest control activities.
• Public education on plant and animal pests, including publications and factsheets.
• Help establish and support Community Pest Control Areas in Northland.
• Fund research on biological control for pests.
• Provide funding for pest control through the Environment Fund.
• Provide free advice to landowners on pest control.
• Provide poison for plant and animal pest control, as required.
